Ryan Formel

Operations Engineering Intern

Summer Intern Project

“I was asked to find ways to improve training materials and work instructions for the stamping presses at Olympic Steel’s Winder, GA division. In addition to updating training instructions, I created a smaller-scale 3D-printed model of the stamping press. The model helps demonstrate the machine’s complex concepts, features, and safety protocols in a safer and more accessible classroom setting. I also introduced other potential uses for the 3D printer like creating machine replacement parts, which could save costs and reduce downtime by eliminating the need to order parts from outside vendors.”
