Ben Fisher

Engineering Intern

Summer Intern Project

“I focused on finding ways to improve the efficiency of our slag removal process for the laser machines at Olympic Steel’s Buford, GA division. After thorough research and observation, I developed several potential solutions. One option adds a "slag escalator" to the box dumper system. Using the ‘escalator’ reduces downtime by 25% and also alleviates the physical strain on the employee during the process, meaning reduced risk of injury.”
