Intern Project
“The project I completed was focused on Inventory Management: Using Historical Data to Maximize Inventory (Cutting, Purchasing, and Re-Stocking). This entailed daily inventory reports where using tags that were aged in our system to minimize our aged inventory throughout the Specialty Metals divisions. With Cutting, Purchasing, and Re-Stocking this allowed us to better forecast future orders based on data from past sales orders in attempt to limit the amount of aged inventory in the future.”

Why did you choose to intern for Olympic Steel?

• “I chose Olympic Steel because of the strong culture and reputation the company has created in the market. I also thoroughly enjoy the specialty metals segment and getting the opportunity to see where our metal is being used. Lastly, I believe that Olympic Steel can prepare me for post-graduation work in the real world to make me as successful as possible.”
  
  

What do you hope to accomplish during your time here at Olympic Steel?

• “Throughout my time here at Olympic Steel I hope to gain a stronger understanding of how the market works based on customer relations and pricing according to fluctuation throughout the year-long period. Also, to be beneficial to the company and create positivity in my branch to make them as efficient and successful as possible.”
  
  

What do you like to do in your free time?

• “In my free time I am a very sociable person. I love being with my friends whether we’re going golfing or just hanging out at a buddy’s house. I also enjoy sports so getting to go to a sporting event is always something I try to get to, especially when I have time, or the offer comes.” 

What is your proudest moment so far?

• “I would say my proudest moment so far was being accepted into Ohio University because it was my top choice and being a first-gen student, it really made my parents happy.”
