Olympic Steel, Inc. Executives to Speak at AWMI Detroit Chapter Industry Dinner

CLEVELAND, March 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Olympic Steel, Inc. (Nasdaq:ZEUS), a national metals service center, has announced that key members of its executive management team will speak at the Annual Industry Dinner held by the Detroit, Michigan chapter of the Association of Women in the Metals Industry (AWMI). The event is scheduled for March 22, 2012 at the Detroit Athletic Club.

Michael D. Siegal, Olympic Steel Chairman and CEO, and Dr. Donald R. McNeeley, President and CEO of Olympic Steel’s Chicago Tube & Iron subsidiary, will discuss mergers and acquisitions and the current economic outlook as event keynote speakers. Chicago Tube and Iron Company was acquired by Olympic Steel in 2011.

Esther Potash, Olympic Steel’s Chief Information Officer, will also speak about the company’s professional development initiative for women.

Mr. Siegal became the CEO of Olympic Steel in 1984, and Chairman of the Board in 1994. He serves as a board member for a number of organizations, including University Hospitals Medical Center, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital Committee, Metals Service Center Institute, JFNA in Cleveland, and the Israel Development Corporation.

Dr. McNeeley is a professor at Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering. His directorships include Olympic Steel, Inc., Saulsbury Industries in Odessa, TX, and Vail Rubber Company in St. Joseph, MI. He is also a Management Trustee of the Pipefitters Union local 529.

Ms. Potash has held the position of Chief Information Officer since 2007. She is a board member of the Great Lakes Science Center and the Cleveland Area Alzheimer’s Association. As a member of the Cleveland Chapter of AWMI, she led Olympic Steel to recognition as AWMI Company of the Year in 2004 and was recognized as Member of the Year in 2005.
